Fraction multiplication.

Hi my name is Helene I am in room 9 at Wesley intermediate. This week in maths I was learning to multiply fractions.

I found This task hard at first but once I got the hang of it it is quite easy. I think I need to work on working out the answer quicker. I would like to know more about simplifying the answer. multiplying fractions is very fun and simple after you know the technique.

This week in maths we were learning our basic facts.

On Monday the 17 September we had two basic facts test, one on multiplication and the on division. After our tests we had to circle the questions we got wrong or didn't answer on each test. I missed 5 questions on the multiplication test, but none wrong. on the division test I got 1 wrong, and missed a few. Then we chose the 10 hardest questions on both the tests together. My teacher tested me and gave me 5 questions to put on flash cards then he gave me 5 fraction multiplication questions.

simple, compound and complex sentences.

This week in writing I have been learning to use simple, compound and complex sentences. we use this to help our writing get better grades and be way more interesting.

I found this task a little bit challenging to do the complex sentences but the simple sentences and compound sentences were easier. I think I need work on using the correct conjunctions. I would like to know more about making the sentences making sense.

Mean, median, mode and range

This week in maths I have been learning about mean, median, mode and range. we use these to help us understand and explain data that we collect.

This is my DLO on mean, median, mode and range.

I found this task easy to do but it was good to recap because it will help me in the future. I think I need work on remembering what each of them mean. I would like to know more about knowing when to use each of the different average strategies. 

Maths

This week room 9 is learning about mean, median, mode and range in maths. My maths group (Darth Vader's)  did an assignment on ed-puzzle which is a great website where our teacher sets us work and we get to contemplate it in really fun ways. We also have to create a maths Digital learning objective (DLO). to do that we have to make a google drawing a show others about our work we did that week and how to do the different things we learnt. This is my maths DLO for week 2.

Matariki animation

To celebrate Matariki this week we made a google slides animation with some facts about Matariki. This is my Matariki animation. I really enjoyed finding lots of cool facts about Matariki. The thing I found challenging was getting the screencastify right it took a few try's but I did get it close in the end. To make the animation we used google slides and added pictures then we added screencastify over the animation. If I did it again I would try and find different facts that know one else knew. Hope you enjoy watching my animation!

Ako Hiko 2018 toolkits

Hi my names is Helene yesterday I went to crist the king school to participate in the 2018 tool-kits. first we got introduced to all the adults then we went of to our first session.

 I was with my friend Joy, Ingrid and Millie and we learnt how to make a video with a blue/green screen on an app/site called we-video. we made short videos about all sorts of thing and added different back grounds. Millie, Joy, Ingrid and I created a hilarious breaking news comedy video.

For our second session we went to room 8 and learnt how to make a animation video on google slides. I made a quick animation of a bike race. it was 174 slides long.

For our last session Millie, Joy, Ingrid and I were teaching the other kids how to make a stop motion animation video we had made a animation of Hansel and Gretel a grim tale.

We had a great time and thank you to CTK school for hosting us.
