Hi my name is Helene and I go to Wesley Intermediate School. over the summer I will be participating in the summer learning journey.
Our task today was to find 3 facts about NZ and post them in our own words.
Here are my 3 facts:
1) For each person living in New Zealand, dairy farmers produce 100 kg of butter and 65 kg of cheese.
2) New Zealand was the first country to have its top 3 positions of power held of all woman at the same time; Prime Minister Helen Clark, Governor General Dame Silvia Cartwright and the Chief Justice Sian Elias.
3) You must swear an oath of loyalty to queen Elizabeth, to become a New Zealand citizen.
Those were my 3 fun facts about New Zealand, I hope you enjoyed and have a great summer!
Kia ora Helene,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Rachel and I am working with Megan and Cia on the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. It is so great to see that you have joined us and completed the first activity. I really enjoyed reading it! In fact, you have shared facts with me that I have never heard before. In particular, I had no idea that dairy farmers produce 100 kg of butter and 65 kg of cheese for every person living in New Zealand. Do they produce this amount per month or per year? Either way, it is a huge amount of dairy product. Speaking of dairy products, do you like butter or cheese?
My son, Aronui, loves cheese! He would put it on everything, if he could (Eggs, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, tacos, etc). What about you? I hope that you and your whold family are having a really nice time together now that school is over. Do you miss being at school? I must admit that I used to miss my friends and my teachers over the break. I grew up in Canada so our summer break ran from late June to early September. Sometimes I still have to remind myself that the summer break in New Zealand starts in December. It's a little bit odd to me!
Hope that you have a great break and that you are able to hop online and join us for the Summer Learning Journey when you are free. We will pop back and check out your blog in another few days to see if you have had time to post more activities. We really hope so!
Bye for now,
Rachel :)
