WPCA Caving Challenge

Hi my name is Helene and I am a student at Wesley Intermediate school. I am part of the awesome William Pike Challenge Award group at my school. On Tuesday the 22nd of October we went to Nikau caves and cafe for our 5th challenge!

On Tuesday the 22nd of of October the WPCA group went to Nikau Caves and Cafe we went for a 2 hour trip in the caves. It was so fun, we could see glow worms up close, amazing stalagmites and stalactites, as well as walking through nearly knee deep water. The most challenging part was tummy crawling through a really small gap for about 20 meters. The best part was the rest of the trip but near the end there was the most incredible stalagmite which was humongous(I really wanted to climb on it).

After we made it through there was a small stream which Josh, Zoe and I played in, it was so fun!

WPCA ski trip challenge

HI MY NAME IS HELENE AND I AM A STUDENT AT WESLEY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL. I AM PART OF THE AWESOME WILLIAM PIKE CHALLENGE AWARD GROUP, AND ON 28th AUGUST WE WENT ON OUR fourth OUTDOOR ACTIVITY!

On the 26th of august the William Pike group and some other students from Wesley intermediate school headed up to Tongariro national park. On the 27th we were supposed to go skiing but only a minuscule amount of the mountain was open due to it snowing so the adults decided to go the national army museum, a 2 hour walk around Rotopounamu lake and we went to the mineral pools.

On the 28th it was a gorgeous day (perfect for skiing), we went up to Whakapapa and had a 2 hour skiing lesson is happy valley. After our lesson Miss Davis, Mr Davis and Miss Corbet took some of the students (including me) up to rock garden. I fell over so many time but on about my 6th or 7th time going down I only fell over twice!

I really enjoyed the ski trip challenge. By the end of the day I was much more confident and I cant wait to go skiing again.

Look at these awesome photos of us playing in the snow and skiing.

Student Toolkits 2019

Hi my name is Helene and I am in room 9 at Wesley intermediate school. The last couple of weeks Lizzie, Zoe and I have been planing to present at the student toolkits. Today some students from the ako hiko schools went to Hay Park school for student toolkits.  There was three sessions, the first session I went to learn about using genia.ly to make my own quiz and games. I learnt a lot and found it very interesting, I recommend creating your account and trying it out. The second session I learnt how to use kahoot, I created my own account and made a quiz. It's a really fun site and you could recommend it to your teachers to use for your class. For the last session Lizzie, Zoe and I presented, we shared our knoladge on making a movie on your Chromebooks

Getting Great at German WPCA passion project

Hi my name is Helene and I am a student at Wesley Intermediate, I am part of the William Pike Challenge Award.
I chose learning German as my passion project because I am going to Germany in July to visit my family. The first time I tried learning German I found it really hard because it is very different to English. Learning German is an important sill for me to learn because as I said I am going to Germany half way through the year. I hope to be able to speak fluent or nearly fluent German by the end of the year.
Can't wait to blog again. Please comment if you have any tips to learning a new language.
