William Pike Challenge Award Introduction.

Hi everyone my name is Helene and this year I will be part of the WPCA (William Pike Challenge Award).
The WPCA is a challenge done over a year with a group or school, were you participate in 20 hours of community service, 20 hours of learning a new skill and 5 challenging out door activity's.

I wanted to join the WPCA because I wanted to do something new and exciting. I wanted to get to know new people and challenge myself. Being part of the WPCA mean that I get to learn a new skill and give back to the community, but also have fun and challenge myself physically.

I am looking forward to learning something new, being challenged physically and giving back to the community.

summer learning journey, week 1, day 1

Hi my name is Helene and I go to Wesley Intermediate School. over the summer I will be participating in the summer learning journey.
Our task today was to find 3 facts about NZ and post them in our own words.
Here are my 3 facts:

1) For each person living in New Zealand, dairy farmers produce 100 kg of butter and 65 kg of cheese.

2) New Zealand was the first country to have its top 3 positions of power  held of all woman at the same time;  Prime Minister Helen Clark, Governor General Dame Silvia Cartwright and the Chief Justice Sian Elias.

3) You must swear an oath of loyalty to queen Elizabeth, to become a New Zealand citizen.

Those were my 3 fun facts about New Zealand, I hope you enjoyed and have a great summer!

Hi my name is Helene and today we did task 2 on the 10 days of Christmas blogging challenge.

Today's task was to research about a famous Christmas tree around the world. I chose the Murano glass Christmas tree in Venice, Italy

I really enjoyed this task. I learnt a lot about glass making and about the Murano glass Christmas tree. the thing I found challenging was finding out how many glass tubes there were, there are 900! I can't wait to do tomorrows task.
